Basketball court dimensions: three-point line, free-throw lane and key markings

A practical FIBA 2026 guide to the full-size 28 × 15 m court, the 6.75 m three-point arc, the free-throw line, restricted area and no-charge semi-circle.

Full-size court and boundary lines

A full-size FIBA court is 28 m long and 15 m wide, measured from the inner edge of the boundary lines. A clear surrounding floor area gives players and officials safe space around the court.

Three-point line and two-point area

The three-point arc has a radius of 6.75 m measured from the point on the floor beneath the centre of the basket to the outer edge of the arc. It joins parallel lines whose outer edge is 0.90 m from the sidelines; the three-point line itself is not part of the three-point goal area, so touching it makes the attempt a two-point shot.

Free-throw line and restricted area

The free-throw line is 3.60 m long and its furthest edge is 5.80 m from the inner edge of the endline. The restricted area is the rectangular lane under the basket, bounded by the endline, the extended free-throw line and the side lines of the lane.

No-charge semi-circle and why markings matter

The no-charge semi-circle under the basket has a radius of 1.30 m measured to its outer edge, and its line is part of the area. It matters in specific charge/block situations near the basket; FIBA 2026 gives more flexibility to colours of groups of court markings, while the dimensions and geometry still define the legal areas.
