AVG, at-bat और plate appearance
Batting average (AVG) hits को at-bats से भाग देकर मिलता है: AVG = H / AB। At-bat (AB) और plate appearance (PA) एक ही चीज नहीं हैं। Walk, hit-by-pitch और कुछ sacrifice PA बढ़ा सकते हैं लेकिन AB नहीं, इसलिए PA आम तौर पर AB से बड़ा होता है।
OBP, SLG और OPS
On-base percentage (OBP) बताता है कि batter formula में गिने जाने वाले परिणामों से कितनी बार base तक पहुंचता है, जैसे hits, walks और hit-by-pitches। Slugging percentage (SLG) total bases को at-bats से भाग देता है और extra-base hits को ज्यादा वजन देता है। OPS = OBP + SLG।
ERA और innings pitched
Earned run average (ERA) नौ innings पर allowed earned runs दिखाता है: ERA = 9 × ER / IP। Innings pitched outs से बनते हैं; हर out एक-तिहाई inning है। सामान्य notation में 5.1 IP का अर्थ पांच और एक-तिहाई, तथा 5.2 का अर्थ पांच और दो-तिहाई innings है, decimal tenths नहीं।
WHIP और statistical context
WHIP = (BB + H) / IP: walks और allowed hits का योग innings pitched से भाग दिया जाता है। कम WHIP आम तौर पर इन दो रास्तों से कम baserunners की अनुमति दिखाता है। Hit batters, errors और fielder’s choices WHIP में शामिल नहीं होते, और कोई एक stat hitter या pitcher को पूरी तरह नहीं बताता।
